Following an unreal finish to the Week 6 matchup between No. 1 Alabama and Vanderbilt, there appears to be a new favorite in the race for the Heisman Trophy.
With Heisman favorite Jalen Milroe losing 40-35 to the unranked Vanderbilt Commodores, one player from the Big 12 Conference saw a major change.
Colorado’s Travis Hunter is now the leader in the clubhouse to win the Heisman Trophy with +300 odds. The Georgia native has quickly emerged as one of the best players in college football history, with NFL talent on both offense and defense.
In 2023, Hunter has recorded 46 grabs for 561 yards and six touchdowns. He leads all Colorado receivers in catches, yards, and touchdowns by a significant amount. Defensively, Hunter leads the team in interceptions with two on the season, alongside 15 total tackles, three pass breakups, and a forced fumble.
Colorado enters a massive matchup in Week 7 against No. 20 Kansas State. The Wildcats are led by some impressive offensive playmakers, including the Big 12’s leading rusher, DJ Giddens, dual-threat quarterback Avery Johnson, and one of Hunter’s former teammates at Colorado, Dylan Edwards.
The Wildcats head to Boulder with a 1-1 conference record after getting blown out by BYU and then blowing out Oklahoma State. If Colorado looks to advance to 3-0 and take a commanding lead in the race for Arlington, Hunter will be a massive piece of the puzzle after the bye.
