Oftentimes, when a player elects to transfer away from his program in search of something new when crossing paths with the original team, understandably, there can be some bad blood.

That does not appear to be the case between Kansas State running back Dylan Edwards and his former program, Colorado.

“We’re not playing against Dylan Edwards, we’re playing against a darn good football team,” Head coach Deion Sanders said. “Dylan just happens to be on their team. I love the young man. I love him for life. Everybody who leaves here in the right manner and those who leave here, period, I want them to be successful. I have never wished wrongful things on any young man or woman in my life. I want you to be successful, and I want you to find your purpose.”

A once committed prospect in the Class of 2023 to Kansas State, Edwards elected to flip his commitment to join Coach Prime at Colorado. Edwards spent his freshman season with the Buffaloes and posted 620 yards of total offense with three scores on the year.

When the opportunity arose to team up at Kansas State with his childhood friend and Pop Warner teammate Avery Johnson arose, the Kansas native entered his name into the transfer portal with Manhattan on his mind.

“Dylan made a tremendous choice for he and his family,” Sanders continued. “I support that 100%. I just hate when guys make those decisions, and they leave, then they shoot back at us. If you’re going where you’re going, you don’t shoot back because you’re so focused on where you’re headed. He ain’t got time to turn around and shoot back so I thank him for not being that guy.”

Sanders finished his thoughts by saying, “We had some great moments, and he’s going to have many more great moments, so I’m proud of him. I just don’t want him to perform well against us, but I want him to perform well against every other team. I really do.”

Colorado and No. 18 Kansas State will square off on Saturday, October 12th, in Boulder at 9:15 p.m. CT.
