On Tuesday, 2025, four-star Cam Ward announced a cutdown list that featured one team from the Big 12 among the four.

Ward included Jerome Tang and the Kansas State Wildcats on the list, alongside Michigan State, Virginia, and Maryland.

“They have an all-black coaching staff,” Ward said about Kansas State. “It doesn’t get much better than that. They have a proven track record with how to use me and being versatile and guarding one through five. Just putting me in the best position to showcase my talents. And also just winning games, man. You can’t really become a pro or get drafted if you don’t win games.”

Coming out of Largo High School in the Class of 2025, Ward is listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 50th-ranked prospect. He also checks in as the 11th-ranked player at his position and the second-ranked player in the state of Maryland.

In a previous interview with On3’s Joe Tipton, Ward spoke on the Wildcats, saying, “I love Kansas State. They have an all-black coaching staff that speaks out to me so much. They’ve been so consistent with everything and just a great program with Coach Tang.”

While Kansas State will still have to beat out some impressive programs like Tom Izzo and Michigan State to land the Maryland native, with the decision date set for October 30th, good news could be on the horizon for the Wildcats.
