After getting out to a 3-0 start in their second season in the Big 12, the UCF Knights have taken a sharp turn for the worse over the last two weeks.
After a 48-21 loss to Colorado in the Bounce House, UCF went to Gainsville and lost in a 24-13 slugfest against a struggling Florida Gators team.
Now, staring at a 3-2 record, UCF fans are looking for anything to see a silver lining for the remainder of the season.
Twitter user @UCFMike1 has drawn quite a few parallels from the 2024 season to the 2007 season, when the Knights started off the year 3-2 but rebounded to win a conference championship and finish the year with a 10-4 record.
Now, to Mike’s credit, there are a strange amount of coincidences here. I mean, how often does a school abandon one of their primary colors (Looking at you, Iowa State)?
With that being said, somebody needs to come and talk some sense into ol’ buddy if he’s hoping to fill that red question mark in with a green check mark at the end of the year.
This isn’t 2007, man. And no disrespect to the team that won a conference title in 2007, but that was CUSA. This is the Big 12.
Just take a quick look at the final seven games of the regular season for that 2007 team vs. what the 2024 team has ahead of it.

After getting embarrassed by USF in 2007, the Knights ripped off six straight wins to get to the conference title game.
Who believes UCF is winning six of their last seven games this year? If you’re confident in that after what you’ve seen over the previous two weeks, then more power to you. You’re seeing something that I’m not.
K.J. Jefferson hasn’t been able to get the passing game going at all, the pass defense is in shambles, and there are key players sitting out for the rest of the year so they can transfer… I’m just not seeing any way that UCF can get to 9-3 with all of that going on.
Now, could they win four or five of those games? Sure, if some things fall their way, I could see an 8-4 season. However, I wouldn’t bet on it with what I’ve seen to this point.
Sorry Mike, I’m not sure this UCF team is the 2007 team reincarnated, but for you, I hope that it is.
