The BYU Cougars are now 6-0 on the season and one of the biggest surprises in college football. And in the process, the fans are showing up in a historic way.
In Saturday’s 41-19 win over Arizona, BYU’s attendance came in at 64,420, which is the largest crowd since 2009, according to BYU Game Notes on X.
As noted, all 3 home games this year have been sold out and above capacity (62,073).

Quarterback Jake Retzlaff threw for 218 yards and two touchdowns. Running backs Hinckley Ropati and L.J. Martin were productive in their returns from injury, as Martin scored twice. Wide receiver Chase Roberts had another exceptional game. And, the BYU defense was opportunistic throughout the game.
After creating four turnovers against the Wildcats, the Cougars have forced at least two turnovers in a game four time this season. The fact that BYU turned those mistakes into 24 points tells you just how meaningful it can be.
Entering the game BYU was tied for No. 22 in the country in turnover margin at +4. So, with Saturday’s game, the Cougars pushed that margin to +7 (BYU did have one turnover late in the game). The Cougars created 10 turnovers entering the game, which was tied for No. 15.
The BYU Cougars remain home next Friday for a match up against the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Kick off is set for 9:15 CST. After that, in Week 9, BYU travels to UCF before they head into their bye week.
