The UCF Knights are set to move off of KJ Jefferson and quarterback and will start EJ Colson vs. Cincinnati on Saturday.
The news first broke on X from Knights247’s Stephen Leonard.
Colson is a former three-star recruit, according to the 247Sports composite, where he ranked as the No. 38 quarterback in the country and the No. 70 player in Georgia in the Class of 2024. He picked UCF over Arkansas, Virginia Tech, Cincinnati and several other programs.

UCF Football Struggles
UCF has lost two games in a row against Colorado and Florida. In fact, the Knights have trailed by 21 points in each of their last three games, including TCU, which they came back to win earlier in the season.
But the Knights have been one dimensional due to their issues passing the football under KJ Jefferson, who transferred to UCF after spending his career at Arkansas.
This season, Jefferson had completed less than 60% of his passes, throwing for over 1,000 yards with seven passing touchdowns to four interceptions. He had 61 carries for 193 yards and two scores, but against UF, Jefferson struggled in both facets of the game. He finished 12/22 for 165 yards and one interception, while finishing with 12 carries for -18 yards.
The UCF Knights host the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday for a Week 7 match up with kick off at 3:30 p.m. EST.
