With Week 7 of the 2024 college football season in the books, we now turn and look ahead to the Week 8 slate.
One of the week’s biggest games rests in the Big 12 Conference, with Saturday afternoon’s matchup between Baylor and Texas Tech.

Despite a slow start in the non-conference schedule, Joey McGuire’s Texas Tech Red Raiders have bounced back admirably through three games of conference play. The Red Raiders are in a three-way tie for first place alongside BYU and Iowa State, which also sport 3-0 records. After losing to Washington State on the road in Week 2, Texas Tech has rattled off four-straight wins vs. North Texas, Arizona State, Cincinnati, and Arizona.
On the opposite side of the field, Baylor has been a nightmare. Dave Aranda has virtually tanked this football program outside of a few limited stretches of halfway-decent football. The Bears currently sit in a three-way tie for last place alongside Kansas and Oklahoma State, who are also winless in conference play. While things haven’t been great in Waco for a while now, if Dave Aranda’s squad can pull it together for an isolated moment, Texas Tech’s defense has been vulnerable this fall.
