The BYU Cougars are preparing to take on the rest of the Big 12 in their second year in the conference with a new head coach in Kevin Young.
Young replaces Mark Pope, who led the Cougars to a tie for fifth in the conference in their first season and to the NCAA Tournament. He took the job at Kentucky, his alma mater, after the season ended, replacing John Calipari.
The Cougars have crafted a tough schedule for Young’s first season at the helm.
The Cougars will get in a couple of games at the Rady Children’s Invitational in San Diego, Calif., take on Providence in the Big 12-BIG EAST Battle and square off with Wyoming in a neutral site game at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The schedule features 11 non-conference games and 20 Big 12 games, the latter being the first time the conference has fielded a 20-game league schedule.
That schedule will take place over 10 weeks with no break, meaning by the time the Cougars get to their first Big 12 Tournament in March in Kansas City, they will have played two games a week for more than two months.
The Big 12 Tournament will be held March 11-15 at T-Mobile Arena and all 16 teams will participate. The exact format of the bracket will be announced at a later date.
Here is the entire schedule, with game times and television designations.
