In one of the wildest stories of the Big 12 football season so far, West Virginia Mountaineers fans have started a fundraiser to fly an airplane over Milan Puskar Stadium in Week 8 with a banner that says, “Fire Neal Brown.”
The fundraiser has already received considerable support, with fans surpassing the goal of $5,000 in less than one week.
The campaign’s goal was to amass 4,685 dollars in an effort to hire a pilot/airplane to fly around Morgantown on football game day with a banner that reads, ‘Are you having fun? Fire Neal Brown.’ The flight would last a total of three hours leading up to and during the Week 8 matchup vs. Kansas State.”
Shortly after the “FireNealBrown” campaign kicked off, donations started pouring in with the total reaching $5,101.
As for the comments left with each donation, it’s safe to say that Neal Brown is not a very popular coach in West Virginia, at the moment.
“Time to head back to the minor leagues, Neal,” one comment read. “Six years and you ain’t done s***!”
“Digest this for a moment,” another donor said. “Five years of Neal Brown football has given us five total regular season wins against a team that’s finished the season with a winning record; three total wins against an opponent who was ranked at the time; zero total wins against a team that’s finished in the Top 25; and zero Top 25 appearances. We have become the Vanderbilt of the B12. Actually, even Vanderbilt has more impressive wins. Thanks for the fun times, President Gee and AD Wren! You two should be fired with Neal!”
While the jury is still out on whether the flight will take place on Saturday, if the Mountaineers wind up on the losing end of the game vs. No. 17 Kansas State, the campaign could see MUCH more funding from outraged fans.
