With Week 7 of the 2024 college football season in the books, we now turn and look ahead to the Week 8 slate.
One of the week’s biggest games rests in the Big 12 Conference, with Saturday morning’s matchup between Arizona State and Cincinnati.
Arizona State Football vs. Cincinnati Football Key Storylines
Kenny Dillingham and the Arizona State Sun Devils have been one of the best stories in college football this season after being picked to finish near the bottom of the league in the Preseason Media Poll. After upsetting No. 16 Utah on Friday night, Dillingham’s squad now holds a conference record of 2-1, positioned to make a run at a Big 12 title.
On the opposite side of the field, Cincinnati has also been somewhat of a shock. The Bearcats have significantly outperformed expectations this fall thanks to the stellar quarterback play of sophomore transfer Brendan Sorsby. The Texas native has thrown for more than 1,700 yards through six games, alongside a touchdown to interception ratio of 13-3.

Prediction for Arizona State vs. Cincinnati
The vast majority of people following Big 12 football would be lying if they thought the winner of this game would be 3-1 in Big 12 play — yet, here we are. Arizona State and Cincinnati have been impressive through their first six games. The Sun Devils are playing complementary football right now, as a balanced offensive attack and a strong defense have propelled them to big wins. Meanwhile, the Bearcats have been playing explosively on offense and then played lockdown defense in a win over UCF last week. This game’s line is indicative of what I expect the came to look like, and I’ll take the home team in a close game with Sam Leavitt out.
