After Colorado dominated Arizona 34-7 on Saturday afternoon, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders responded to former President Barack Obama’s recent comments on the game.
On Friday, Barack Obama was doing a rally on Tucson, Arizona, and thanked the audience for coming out to during Homecoming weekend. He then referenced the game against the Colorado Buffaloes, and said, “I know Colorado got a couple good players. I also know you guys have beaten them twice in a row. So don’t bet against the Wildcats tomorrow.”
Then, came Deion Sanders’ response after the big win on Saturday. Sanders said, “President Obama is everything to me. I love him, I admire him, I respect him tremendously. But, I heard what he said… That’s why I really don’t get into politics, I mentor people, because politicians have to play the political game… ‘They have two good players?’. We have more than two good players. But he was here [Tucson] so he had to support that… You’re my man. I love you. I appreciate you. But c’mon dawg.”
Sanders and the Buffaloes smoked Arizona in every facet of the game on Saturday. Colorado had 398 total yards to Arizona’s 245. The defense had seven sacks and seven tackles for loss against Arizona, while the Wildcats had just one sack on the night.
Obama clearly hasn’t been watching Colorado football in recent weeks given his assessment. We understand he’s busy, but he’s probably hoping his political predictions are better than his sports predictions.
