The Oklahoma State Cowboys have put together a compelling 2024-25 men’s basketball schedule for its first season under new head coach Steve Lutz.
The Cowboys made a coaching move in the offseason, firing longtime mentor Mike Boynton Jr. and hiring Lutz, who has quickly worked his way up the ranks as a head coach.
In 2021-22 he was a rookie head coach at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and led the Islanders to a pair of 20-win seasons and two NCAA Tournament berths. He moved on to Western Kentucky last season, here he flipped the Hilltoppers into a 22-win team and helped them reach the NCAA Tournament.
The Cowboys hired him away from WKU to get the Cowboys back on top in the Big 12.
In non-conference Oklahoma State will participate in the Charleston Classic, travel to Seton Hall for the Big 12-BIG EAST Battle and face Oklahoma in a renewal of the Bedlam rivalry at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City.
The schedule features 11 non-conference games and 20 Big 12 games, the latter being the first time the conference has fielded a 20-game league schedule.
That schedule will take place over 10 weeks with no break, meaning by the time the Cowboys get to the Big 12 Tournament in March in Kansas City, they will have played two games a week for more than two months.
The Big 12 Tournament will be held March 11-15 at T-Mobile Arena and all 16 teams will participate. The exact format of the bracket will be announced at a later date.
Here is the entire schedule, with game times and television designations.
