Spencer Rattler Picks Side in Oklahoma vs. South Carolina Game

On Saturday, one player that took place on both sides of the matchup between Oklahoma and South Carolina, Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler, staked his claim for which program to root for in Week 8.

Amid a disastrous start by Oklahoma, Rattler posted a tweet cheering for South Carolina in the matchup.

Following some unreal first-quarter lapses for Oklahoma, it appears Rattler chose the correct side in the first half of this one as South Carolina leads the Sooners 30-3 in the second quarter. After benching five-star quarterback Jackson Arnold for true freshman Michael Hawkins, the team elected to roll with Hawkins for a few weeks. On Saturday, Hawkins tossed two interceptions in the first quarter and returned to the bench.

In 2024, Oklahoma’s football product has been brutal to watch. While the team holds a 4-2 record through six games, the four wins came against the likes of Temple, Houston, Tulane, and Auburn, with losses against No. 11 Tennessee and No. 1 Texas.

While many have started to point fingers at head coach Brent Venables in the blame game, he is approaching some truly dangerous territory in Norman. According to Pistols Firing’s Carson Cunningham, the Sooners have had just six losing seasons since World War Two (1960, 1965, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2022). With Venables on the way to what appears to be a losing season, the Sooners’ head coach would be responsible for two of the team’s seven losing seasons in the time frame.

South Carolina leads Oklahoma 30-3, nearing halftime in Norman.
