With Week 7 of the 2024 college football season in the books, we now turn and look ahead to the Week 8 slate.
One of the week’s biggest games rests in the Big 12 Conference, with Saturday night’s matchup between ninth-ranked Iowa State and UCF.
UCF Football vs. Iowa State Football
Matt Cambell and the Iowa State Cyclones have quickly established themselves a serious Big 12 title contender in 2024 as well as a threat to reach the College Football Playoff. The group holds a perfect 6-0 record this fall with wins over North Dakota, No. 21 Iowa, Arkansas State, Houston, Baylor, and West Virginia.
On the opposite side of the field, UCF’s football product has been anything but consistent this season. Plagued by question marks at the quarterback position, the Knights hold a 3-3 overall record and a disappointing 1-2 conference record. Gus Malzahn’s group enters the matchup without an official starter named, but the group will feature some combination of KJ Jefferson, EJ Colson, and Jacurri Brown.

Prediction for UCF vs. Iowa State
When both of these teams were 3-0, I had this game circled for one of the matchups that could have a huge factor on the Big 12 Title race. That is still the case, but it’s more so for one team than the other. Iowa State has played like a championship contender in the weeks since then, while UCF has dropped three straight and is coming unglued at the seams. A night game at Jack Trice Stadium is the last thing this team needs right now, but that’s what is up next for the Knights. Cyclones roll here.
