The West Virginia Mountaineers trailed the K-State Wildcats 17-10 at halftime, and their chances of a comeback just got tougher after it was announced on the radio broadcast that WVU would be without three key players for the second half.
According to the Mountaineer Sports Network broadcast, quarterback Garrett Greene, running back Jahiem White and left tackle Wyatt Milum are all out for the second half of the game. Greene is reported to have an upper body injury that will keep him out for the remainder of the game.
Greene came up limping in the first quarter after a run, but ended up staying in the game. Greene was having success on the ground with 88 rushing yards on 10 carries before halftime. However, through the air, Greene was struggling. He completed just 9-of-19 pass attempts for 85 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.
Redshirt sophomore Nicco Marchiol will replace Greene as the quarterback. On the season, Marchiol has completed 4/5 passes for 22 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
The Mountaineers are trying to stay in the Big 12 Championship race and avoid losing a second-straight game after falling at home to Iowa State last week in Morgantown.
