The UCF Knights have put together another compelling schedule for its second Big 12 Conference men’s basketball season under coach Johnny Dawkins.
Dawkins is entering his eighth season at the helm of the program. Before that, he was the head coach at Stanford for eight seasons.
He took the Knights to the NIT Tournament last season as the Knights finished 17-16. Their high mark as a first-year Big 12 member was beating Kansas at home in January in front of a national television audience.
Now, Dawkins is hoping to get the Knights back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019.
The Knights will head to the Greenbrier Tip-off at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, W.V., for its multi-team event and then face Tulsa in December in the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic in Sunrise, Fla.
The schedule features 11 non-conference games and 20 Big 12 games, the latter being the first time the conference has fielded a 20-game league schedule.
That schedule will take place over 10 weeks with no break, meaning by the time the Knights get to the Big 12 Tournament in March in Kansas City, they will have played two games a week for more than two months.
The Big 12 Tournament will be held March 11-15 at T-Mobile Arena and all 16 teams will participate. The exact format of the bracket will be announced at a later date.
