Look: 247Sports Deletes Post Alleging Quinn Ewers Planning to Opt-Out of 2024 Season

NCAA Football: Texas at Alabama

How fast can an Instagram post be deleted? That was the question 247Sports attempted to answer on Monday after dropping some wild accusations about Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers.

In a since-deleted post, 247Sports mentioned that Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers was planning to forgo the remainder of the 2024 season to focus on his NFL Draft stock.

Shortly after the post went viral, many individuals in the sports world rejected the claim, notably including ESPN’s Pete Thamel, who said, “A report about Quinn Ewers leaving Texas for the NFL Draft is not true, per Ewers’ representative Ron Slavin. Ewers practiced today and is focused on Vanderbilt.”

In addition to the report from 247Sports, one aspect that made the situation seem more likely is a change to the regularly scheduled press cycle at Texas. While Ewers normally meets with members of the media every Monday of the season, the blank quarterback missed the session for the first time this season.

In Week 8, Ewers was replaced by freshman quarterback Arch Manning during the Longhorns matchup with Georgia. The move made a palpable buzz in the college football sphere as Steve Sarkisian’s squad searched for answers under center. With Manning struggling in his limited action vs. one of the SEC’s top teams, Sark returned to Ewers.

Ewers responded on his Instagram story with a gif of former President Donald Trump saying his patented “fake news” line.

With the notion of Quinn Ewers opting out of the 2024 season quickly debunked, the next pressing question on the minds of sports fans everywhere is whether the group hacked or felt like sharing a ridiculous rumor with little to no credible information.
