The Utah Utes have put together a compelling schedule as they prepare to play their first Big 12 men’s basketball season in 2024-25.
The Utes are led by coach Craig Smith, who is entering his fourth season leading the program after stops at Utah State, South Dakota and Mayville State.
Last season was Utah’s best under Smith, as the Utes went 22-15 with a 9-11 record in the Pac-12 and earned an invite to the postseason NIT, where they reached the semifinals.
Utah landed a non-conference road trip to Mississippi State, with the game to be played at the Lander’s Center in Southhaven, Miss. Utah will host its own Mountain to Sea Showcase, a multi-team event. The Utes will also head to the Sanford Pentagon for a non-conference showdown with Iowa.
Utah’s schedule features 11 non-conference games and 20 Big 12 games, the latter being the first time the conference has fielded a 20-game league schedule.
That schedule will take place over 10 weeks with no break, meaning by the time the Utes get to their first Big 12 Tournament in March in Kansas City, they will have played two games a week for more than two months.
The Big 12 Tournament will be held March 11-15 at T-Mobile Arena and all 16 teams will participate. The exact format of the bracket will be announced at a later date.
