National Championship odds: Who is likely to win the 2024/2025 College Football Playoffs?

NCAA Football: Sugar Bowl-Alabama vs Clemson

Following a wild Week 8 fixtures in the NCAA that saw two major upsets the Georgia Bulldogs are once again ranking as favorites after beating the Texas Longhorn 15-30 last weekend. However, the Longhorns are still among the favorites despite losing at home. Additionally, both Georgia and Texas will face stiff competition from the Ohio State Buckeyes, who moved the odds table to sit second behind the Bulldogs heading into Week 9.

But which schools will rise from the NCAA playoffs, set to kick off on 20th December 2024 to 20th January 2025 and who is most likely to win the national championship title? Here is a preview of the top three teams most likely to win the NCAA title following a successful campaign in the CPF.

Georgia Bulldogs (+360)

While the Bulldogs are currently in the driver’s seat to win the SEC and National Championship titles following their victory against the then No. 1 Texas Longhorns, they still need some help making it to the finals. Georgia is still not among the top two teams in the SEC standings, recording a major victory in week 8. That’s because the Texas A&M (4-0) and LSU (3-0) remain undefeated and could get a not to the conference championship match before the Bulldogs if they dominate their remaining SEC games.

On the brighter side for the Bulldogs, LSU will face Texas A&M in Week 9 so one side must record a loss in the SEC to put them at par with Georgia. That makes this a thrilling college football match to watch and you can find out more on SportyTrader for tips on the best bets to place. However, that doesn’t guarantee that Georgia will get an automatic qualification to Atlanta regardless of the winner.

Texas Longhorns (+475)

Despite losing at home and falling down the odds table in Week 8, The Texas Longhorns still have the best defense in the country. The Longhorns are still expected to face Georgia in a rematch to decide the SEC trophy winner and they seem ready to exert their revenge on the Bulldogs. Texas also has a very manageable schedule that puts them among the top contenders for the SEC title as they seem to have an easier path than most teams. However, the Longhorns haven’t recorded a ranked victory in their last seven games and will need Texas A&M to avoid losses to ensure it remains a ranked-on-ranked fixture in the season finale.

Ohio State Buckeyes (+400)

With the 12-team college football playoff on the horizon, NCAA fans expect the Big Ten to challenge the SEC for the title. The SEC has long dominated the race to the NCAA title, but the Big Ten might outshine them this season as the Ohio State Buckeyes are among the favorites. The Buckeyes are standing undefeated in their conference and their path to both the Big Ten Championship and CFP is straightforward. However, they still have three critical fixtures ahead of them to determine whether they will make it to the playoffs.
