One bright star in the Big 12 Conference went down with a scary injury on Sunday, with UCF guard Jaylin Sellers being taken off the basketball court on a stretcher.
The injury occurred during an exhibition game against Florida Gulf Coast, where the Knights won 92-78 but lost their top scorer from a year ago in the process.
Sellers went down early in the second half of action, and after colliding with an FGCU defender, the Georgia native layed down on his stomach and remained there for several minutes before the stretcher arrived.
On Wednesday in Kansas City, our Matthew Postins asked UCF head coach Johnny Dawkins for an update on Sellers’ injury, which provided some insight into the situation.
“There’s no timeline, no prognosis, as far as where he is at this stage, but he’s home, he’s resting, and so we’ll see what happens,” Dawkins said. “We’re taking it day-by-day. He’s a terrific young man. It was tough what happened to him in our exhibition game, but he’s in good spirits, and he’s moving forward.”
UCF Basketball returns to action for a second exhibition game on Tuesday, October 29th, likely without the services of their star guard. With no timetable in mind, UCF fans will have to wait in anticipation of another update on Jaylin Sellers’ health.
