Nick Saban: ‘I Think Colorado’s The Team to Watch’ in Big 12 Conference

NCAA Football: Alabama at Mississippi State

On Saturday, former Alabama head coach Nick Saban raved about his colleague, Deion Sanders, and the incredible start by the Buffaloes in 2024.

Saban, on the Week 9 College GameDay broadcast, spoke about Sanders and the Buffs, mentioning that Colorado is the “team to watch” in the Big 12.

“I think the team to watch out for is Colorado,” Saban said. “One of the things that Deion told me this summer was that he finally had two coordinators, both offensive and defensive, Pat Shurmur and Robert Livingstone. They believe like he believes. They’re going to do the things that they need to do on both sides of the ball. That shows up dramatically in how they play on both sides of the ball.”

Colorado has significantly outperformed expectations in 2024, with an overall record of 5-2. After taking down Arizona, UCF, and Baylor, the Buffaloes hold a 3-1 conference record and are positioned well to make a run toward Arlington.

After underwhelming in 2023, Sanders built through the transfer portal ahead of the move to the Big 12. The team advanced to a 2-1 record in non-conference play before taking down solid programs in league play.

The Buffaloes take the field in an exciting Big 12 matchup vs. Cincinnati on Saturday, October 26th, at 9:15 p.m. CT.
