Following another impressive performance in Week 9, Colorado defensive back Travis Hunter has taken the lead in the 2024 Heisman race.
In the Week 9 win over Cincinnati, Hunter recorded a pair of receiving touchdowns and further established himself as an incredible defensive force.
According to some recent odds at BetOnline, Hunter now has the nation’s best odds to win the Heisman Trophy at +225 after overtaking Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty and Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel.
In 2024, Hunter has posted some incredible stats on both sides of the ball. The junior two-way star has snagged 60 receptions for 757 yards and eight scores on offense, all while being the Buffaloes’ best defensive player. Hunter has also been a turnover-forcing machine on defense, with two interceptions and a forced fumble.
In addition to the significant odds boost, many in the world of college football have joined the Travis Hunter Heisman campaign, notably including his teammate Shedeur Sanders.
“I just want Travis to win, of course,” Sanders said after the win. “That would be like I almost won because I throw him the ball. He is the best player in college football, hands down. I’m excited for him to win it. That would make my day right there.”
With four games left in the 2024 Big 12 regular season, Hunter will have multiple opportunities ahead to increase his stock even further.
