Shedeur Sanders Makes it Clear Who He Wants to Win the Heisman Trophy

NCAA Football: Colorado at Arizona State

As many national headlines focused on the race for the Heisman Trophy continue to grow, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders staked his claim for which athlete deserves the award.

Following Colorado’s 34-23 win over Cincinnati on Saturday night, Sanders pitched his teammate, Travis Hunter, as the Heisman Trophy winner in 2024.

“I just want Travis to win, of course,” Sanders said. “That would be like I almost won because I throw him the ball. He is the best player in college football, hands down. I’m excited for him to win it. That would make my day right there.”

As of Week 10, Hunter sits with the third-best odds to win the Award with +330 odds. He trails just two athletes in the standings, Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel and Miami’s Cam Ward.

While it’s no secret that Travis Hunter was one of the nation’s best athletes in 2023, this fall, the Buffaloes have found a way to string together some victories, propelling Hunter even further up the Heisman odds. The junior dual-threat playmaker has made major impacts on both sides of the ball with more than 750 receiving yards, eight scores, two interceptions, and a forced fumble.

Still, Hunter will have to bring his A-game down the stretch with athletes like Ashton Jeanty, Dillon Gabriel, Cam Ward, and more gunning for the Heisman throne.
