The Week 9 Big 12 college football attendance numbers came in after this weekend’s games, and the conference had a strong showing overall.
There were seven games this week, and five of the eight contests were played in front of 99% or higher capacity crowds, with a couple of them going over 100%.
Here are the numbers.

- Cincinnati at Colorado: 53,202 (106.0%)
- Kansas at Kansas State: 52,074 (104.1%)
- Oklahoma State at Baylor: 44,987 (99.7%)
- West Virginia at Arizona: 49,888 (98.2%)
- BYU at UCF: 42,144 (93.0%)
- Texas Tech at TCU: 42,144 (89.7%)
- Utah at Houston: 28,251 (70.6%)
The largest crowd that we saw in Week 9, by sheer number of people, was Cincinnati at Colorado, with 53,202 in attendance. It was also the highest-capacity game we saw all weekend, with a little over 106% capacity.
Colorado got to bowl eligibility with a 34-23 win over the Bearcats, moving them to 6-2 and 4-1 in Big 12 play.
Another game saw a crowd well above capacity, with Kansas vs. Kansas State having 52,074 (104.1%) in attendance to see K-State’s 29-27 comeback win — their 16th straight victory over the Jayhawks.
Oklahoma State at Baylor (99.7%) and West Virginia at Arizona (98.2%) were played in front of near-capacity crowds, while BYU’s trip to UCF was in front of 42,144, a respectable 93.0%. However, Texas Tech at TCU was a bit disappointing, as Amon G. Carter failed to crack 90% — with the same number of fans (42,144) — only 89.7% of its capacity.
Finally, the smallest crowd — and lowest capacity on the day — came at Houston, who was hosting Utah. With just 28,251 in attendance, the Coogs were playing with the stadium just 70.6% full. However, for the 28,000+ that did decide to show up, they were in for quite a treat as UH pulled off its biggest win of the season thus far with a 17-14 upset of the Utes.
