Kenny Dillingham Discusses Sam Leavitt’s Status for Week 10

ASU quarterback Sam Leavitt (10) looks for a receiver during a game against Wyoming at Mountain America Stadium on Aug. 31, 2024, in Tempe.

Ahead of the Week 10 matchup between Arizona State and Oklahoma State, ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham provided an injury update on sophomore quarterback Sam Leavitt.

Leavitt has been sidelined since the Sun Devils’ Week 7 win over Utah.

According to a report from Sun Devil Source’s Chris Karpman, Leavitt has been cleared medically to play and has a 60-70% chance of suiting up vs. Oklahoma State. “He wants to play,” Dillingham said on Leavitt. “Now we’ve got to see him practice.”

Through six games in 2024, Leavitt has thrown for 1,166 yards and a touchdown to interception ratio of 8-4. In addition to his passing numbers, the freshman passer has recorded 55 carries for 279 yards and four scores for the Sun Devils.

With Leavitt sidelined, Dillingham turned to veteran signal-caller Jeff Sims in relief. Through two games as the starter for ASU, Sims has amassed a 1-1 record with 13 completions for 168 yards and 18 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown.

Through his six games, Leavitt led his team to a 5-1 record. They kick off vs. Oklahoma State on Saturday, November 2nd, at 6:00 p.m. CT vs. Oklahoma State.
