It’s been an incredibly disappointing football season for the Kansas Jayhawks in 2024, as the folks in Lawrence have had to suffer through a 2-6 season that has been plagued by one-possession losses.
KU is 0-5 in one-score games this year, and with one more loss, their two-year bowl streak under Lance Leipold will come to an end.
There is hope for the future of the program, however. Kansas is starting to bring in much better talent than we’ve seen under previous regimes, and it appears that Leipold and company are on the verge of landing a huge puzzle piece for their 2025 class.
On3’s Steve Wiltfong recently logged a prediction for Kansas to land the services of four-star wide receiver Jaden Nickens. Nickens, a former product of Millwood High School (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma), is currently playing out his final year of high school football at Sierra Canyon in California.
Nickens was committed to Oklahoma for quite some time but backed off his commitment with the Sooners back in March.
Listed at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, Nickens plays both sides of the ball for now, but projects as an elite talent at wide receiver at the next level. However, it sounds like Nickens wouldn’t just be a productive addition for the Jayhawks football team, but also on the court, as Wiltfong says that he would play both football and basketball for KU.
After losing four-star OL JuJu Marks to Nebraska last week, getting a player of Nickens’ talents would be a huge step for Kansas’ 2025 recruiting class, which currently ranks 58th nationally.
The Jayhawks will have to hold off four other schools for his services, as Nickens has named Kansas, Cal, Texas A&M, Georgia, and Oklahoma State as his final five.
