Big 12 Superstar Favored to Win Heisman Trophy in Week 11

NCAA Football: Cincinnati at Colorado

The Heisman Trophy race is entering the most important stretch of the season, as the final month of the regular season is typically when we see the favorites separate themselves from the crowd.

Entering the month of November, one of the favorites to win college football’s most prestigious award is also the best player in the Big 12 through the first 10 weeks of the year.

According to a poll from On3, Colorado DB/WR Travis Hunter is the man to beat entering Week 11. While the Buffaloes were on a bye week in Week 10, he made history the week before when he became the first player ever to be named the Big 12 Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week.

He earned the honors after collecting nine catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns on offense, while also recording two tackles and four pass breakups in a 34-23 win over Cincinnati.

In the On3 poll, Hunter earned 46 of a possible 50 points, beating out Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty (44 points) for the lead. Jeanty has been incredible in his own right, piling up 1,525 yards rushing and 20 touchdowns while averaging an absurd 8.0 yards per carry.

Miami quarterback Cam Ward (43 points) and Oregon signal-caller Dillon Gabriel (37 points) finished third and fourth in the poll.

Can Colorado’s star two-way player take home college football’s biggest award?
