One of the most impactful players in the Big 12 could miss a key game in Week 11, as Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham announced on Monday that running back Cam Skattebo is “doubtful to questionable” to play against UCF.
Skattebo suffered an undisclosed injury against Oklahoma State this last weekend during a 42-21 victory that got the Sun Devils to bowl eligibility.
In fact, Skattebo earned his fourth Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week award in the performance, piling up 274 all-purpose yards — 153 rushing yards and a touchdown on 23 carries (6.7 ypc), and four catches for 121 yards and two touchdowns.
Skattebo’s fourth OPOW award puts him in a class of his own, but that was already the case as no other player in the league has earned the distinction more than once this year.
The Sun Devils’ running back had previously won the award after standout performances against Utah (Oct. 11), Kansas (Oct. 5), and Mississippi State (Sep. 7).
If Skattebo is unable to go on Saturday against the Knights — who are fresh off a 56-12 trouncing of Arizona — it could seriously hinder ASU’s chances of winning this week.
As of Monday afternoon, the Sun Devils are a three-point favorite at home on Saturday night.
