According to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are adding former Houston and West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen as an offensive consultant.
To this point in the year, Holgorsen has been serving in a similar position with TCU and will work alongside Nebraska’s offensive staff in a role that will “evolve as the season goes on,” according to Thamel.
The Huskers are in the midst of a three-game losing streak that has been attributed a struggling offense that is averaging just 18.3 points per game in Big Ten play.
Currently, Nebraska ranks 12th in the Big Ten in scoring offense (23.6 ppg), 13th in rushing offense (124.9 ypg), and ninth in passing offense (229.2 ypg). During this stretch of losses, Nebraska offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield has been subject to a lot of criticism, making the addition of a guy like Holgorsen more than noteworthy.
Nebraska’s offense is currently built around freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola, who came into the 2024 season as one of the highest-rated quarterback prospects in the country. Through nine games, Raiola has completed 64.7% of his attempts for 1,921 yards, 10 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
Throughout his career as an offensive coach, coordinator, and head coach, Holgorsen has played a role in helping develop some of the most prolific quarterbacks that college football has seen, including Graham Harrell, Case Keenum, Brandon Weeden, Will Grier, and Clayton Tune.
