How Many Big 12 Football Teams are Still Mathematically in the Conference Race With Four Weeks Left?

NCAA Football: Colorado at Central Florida

The Big 12 has been viewed as the most wide-open conference race in America since the beginning of the 2024 season.

With just four weeks left until Championship Weekend, that remains the case, and most of the preseason “favorites” are nowhere to be found.

Oklahoma State was picked to finish third in the Big 12 Preseason Media Poll, but has yet to win a game in league play, entering Week 11 with a 3-6 (0-6) record. Arizona, which was top five in the same poll, isn’t doing much either, going 3-6 (1-5) to this point.

However, the rest of the conference is technically still in the race — as hard as that might be to believe.

Check it out.

While the odds are certainly better for some than others, there are 14 teams still in contention to win a Big 12 title entering this weekend.

Now, things would really have to break right for teams like Kansas (2-6, 1-4), Utah (4-4, 1-4), or UCF (4-5, 2-4) to stay in the race much longer, but given how unpredictable the league has been to this point, there’s still a chance.

As of now, the favorites to make it to Arlington are BYU (8-0, 5-0), Iowa State (7-1, 4-1), and Colorado (6-2, 4-1), with Kansas State (7-2, 4-2) and Texas Tech (6-3, 4-2) right behind them.

It’s still anyone’s race right now, but from here on out, the list will start to dwindle down week by week until there are just two remaining on Saturday, December 7.
