In a schocking story out of Gainesville, Florida, on Friday, Florida head basketball coach Todd Golden was accused by multiple women of sexual harassment.
The university received a formal Title IX complaint on September 27th, which claimed that Golden violated multiple policies and laws including sexual harassment and stalking.
According to the Florida Alligator’s Jack Meyer, Florida cannot comment on Title IX situations In order to comply with federal law.
On the long list of accusations regarding Golden’s behavior, sources outlined unsolicited photos of his genitals, aggressive in-person stalking, unwanted sexual messages on Instagram, and various different forms of harassment. Golden also allegedly took photos and videos of women as they walked or drove, and would then sent those photos to those involved.
One source, a former student at the University of Florida mentioned that Golden stalked her on foot and in his car more than 10 times. In one instance, she posted her location to Instagram stories which the Florida coach replied to, saying that he was in the area, waiting for her.
“At first, it starts off slow, like, ‘Oh, wow. That’s odd. This guy is showing us attention,’” the first women said. “And then it becomes, ‘Wow, he’s kind of crossing a line. No, he didn’t mean it that way.’ Then it’s, ‘Wait, he’s fully stepping over that line.’ And then it’s, ‘Wow, there’s a picture of his d*ck.’ It was a full grooming process with all of us.”
“He would go at such lengths about it,” she continued. “He would go back, like a year back, and like ten photos at once. Then, obviously, [he] followed up with a DM, always in vanish mode… Just really aggressive Instagram stalking is the best way to put it.”
The source finished her statement by accusing the situation at Florida to be much more than just Golden’s sexual advances, mentioning that the issues run deeper than just the head coach.
“I think it is just a sick f*cking joke that they’re all doing, within that organization, all the coaches,” she said. “They probably get off by showing each other the pictures…There’s something f*cking sick going on there.”
