The West Virginia Mountaineers will go into its Week 11 game vs. Cincinnati with Nicco Marchiol as the starting quarterback, with Garrett Greene only available in an emergency.

Greene hasn’t played since suffering an injury vs. K-State in Week 8, which the Mountaineers lost 45-18. In 2024, Greene has recorded 99 completions for 1,352 yards through the air this season, alongside a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 9-8. In addition to being a solid passer, Greene is one of the nation’s better dual-threat quarterbacks with 76 carries for 476 yards and three touchdowns.
As for Marchiol, he played well in a 31-26 win over Arizona two weeks ago, finishing 18/22 for 198 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. He also rushed 11 times for 39 yards in the win.
“He’s so much a better player than the last time he started a game,” Brown said on Marchiol in the days after the Arizona game. “He’s mature, he’s been patient, and he’s gotten better, and I’ve said that a lot. And then he showed that today. He didn’t play very well in the second half of the Kansas State game which was a tough setting for him. But I thought he really stepped today when we needed him and I thought he played really well.”
West Virginia plays Cincinnati on the road on Saturday with kick off set for 11:00 a.m. CT on FOX Sports 1. The Mountaineers are 5-point underdogs in the game.
