Look: Kyle Whittingham Slams Chair to End Press Conference After BYU Loss

NCAA Football: California at Utah

Understatement of the year: the 2024 Holy War game between BYU and Utah was insane.

What’s perhaps more insane was some of the post-game comments and antics from those on Utah’s sideline, namely head coach Kyle Whittingham.

Following the 22-21 controversial loss, Whittingham concluded his press conference in a dramatic way by slamming a chair on his way out.

Whittingham abruptly answered the final question of the night before his departure, saying, “Yeah, couldn’t get that last stop when we needed it, unfortunately. That’s kinda just been the story for several games. You play lights out and can’t get that last stop.”

The Utah head coach wasn’t the only member of his squad to take the stage after the loss as Utah AD Mark Harlan crashed the stage to rant about Big 12 officiating.

“I’ve been an athletic director for 12 years,” Harlan said. “This game was absolutely stolen from us. We were excited about being in the Big 12, but tonight I am not. We won this game. Someone else stole it from us. I’m very disappointed. I will talk to the commissioner. This was not fair to our team. I’m disgusted by the professionalism of the officiating crew tonight.”

Regardless of the post-game antics, Utah drops to 1-5 in conference play and 4-5 overall.
