In a scary moment during the final seconds of the Holy War matchup between BYU and Utah, the Cougars cheerleading coach suffered a frightening injury.
As noted in her social media post on Instagram, a water bottle thrown by a Utah fan struck Jocelyn Allan in the head and caused her to lose consciousness.
“At the conclusion of tonight’s BYU/Utah game, a Utah fan in the table seats in the south endzone threw a water bottle and hit me directly in the head,” the post reads. “I lost consciousness but, thankfully, was lowered to the ground by one of my cheerleaders. Police are going over video footage to identify the seats that it came from (we have a pretty good idea). If you saw the incident or have any info on the family who owns that particular box, please contact me. Thank you!”
While the game between BYU and Utah is known as one of the nation’s best college football rivalries, it goes without saying that throwing items at the field is a dangerous and idiotic concept. Thankfully, BYU’s cheer coach regained consciousness and was able to safely depart Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday night.
