The outcome of Saturday night’s matchup between BYU and Utah sparked a large amount of criticism for Big 12 officiating largely on behalf of the Utes.

Late in the fourth quarter, on BYU’s game-winning drive, the officiating crew threw a flag for defensive holding on Utah, which gave the Cougars a first down on a 4th and 10 stop.

The play sparked a lot of controversy from college football fans around the nation, as individuals scrambled to social media for a closer look. Here are some of the best angles captured of the call.

While head coach Kyle Whittingham and Athletic Director Mark Harlan both had major rants about the officiating crew in the wake of the loss, Utah’s official postgame press release was more of the same.

“With less than two minutes to play, Utah stopped the Cougars on a fourth-and-10 with an eight-yard sack, but a late thrown flag would give BYU an automatic first down.”

Regardless, the team scored a total of zero points in the second half with just 79 total yards in the final 30 minutes of regulation. Utah falls to 1-5 in conference play, while BYU advances to a perfect 6-0.
