In Week 11, the biggest story of the week was the Iowa State Cyclones, who went from No. 9 to unranked in just three weeks. The team lost a tough matchup vs. Kansas at Arrowhead Stadium, which pushed them out of the poll. Colorado, BYU, and Kansas State all climbed in the poll after some major upsets, with the Cougars rising to No. 7, Colorado climbing to No. 18, and Kansas State to No. 20 on a bye week.

When looking at the Power 4 Conferences, the SEC leads all conferences with seven ranked teams; the Big Ten falls behind with five ranked teams, the ACC trails with four, and the Big 12 sits in last with three.
