While ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith is no stranger to making unique comments about the Dallas Cowboys, on Monday, Smith provided some wild claims about what should be Dallas’s next step in 2025.
Smith mentioned that the Dallas Cowboys should fire Mike McCarthy for Deion Sanders and then tank the remainder of the 2024 season to select Shedeur Sanders with the No. 1 overall pick.
“I believe that the Dallas Cowboys should tank the rest of the season, get the No. 1 overall pick so you can draft Shedeur Sanders, and hire Prime Time Deion Sanders as your head coach,” Smith said. “I think that should be Jerry Jones’ master plan. Hire Prime Time Deion Sanders. Tank the season to make sure you can get his son as your quarterback, and you move forward that way.”
While Deion Sanders has more than coached himself into conversations surrounding larger and better opportunities, current Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy has coached his way out of the job in Dallas. The two parties would have to come to terms on future plans for the organization as Dallas has found a way to fall through the cracks back to irrelevance on the gridiron this fall.
Smith finished his thoughts by saying, “That is what I believe the Dallas Cowboys should do because as much as I appreciate the job and the University of Colorado and the citizens of Boulder for giving Prime Time Deion Sanders this opportunity, the bottom line is when you think about Prime Time, we shouldn’t be thinking about Boulder, Colorado. We should be thinking about someplace else.”
In the meantime, Colorado sits at 7-2 overall and will return to action on Saturday, November 16th, vs. Utah in Boulder.
