On Monday, FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt made an astounding claim regarding Colorado superstar Travis Hunter, comparing him to some of the greatest athletes of all time.
Klatt likened Hunter to arguably the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan, and arguably the greatest golfer of all time, Tiger Woods.
“Travis Hunter is a unicorn, total unicorn, and I just want to appreciate what he is doing and what we’re seeing because we’re never going to see this again,” Klatt said. “Okay, there comes a time when, as a sports fan, you’ve got to sit back and actually take stock in what you’re witnessing.”
While it’s no secret that Hunter is the best player in college football, comparing him to two all-time greats feels a bit early, considering he hasn’t reached his NFL stardom just yet. Klatt isn’t necessarily saying he’s just as good or has the career to match; he’s simply stating that individuals across the globe need to treat his game in a similar regard.
“I think a lot of us do that when we watch LeBron play, or those of us that got to watch Michael Jordan play. I’m sure this is how people felt when they watched Mickey Mantle play, or how I felt when I got to stand there when I was a minor league baseball player and watch Barry Bonds take batting practice, or when we watched Tiger Woods hit a golf ball, you know? Like there are things that we just know we’re never going to see again. And this is one of those things. Travis Hunter is one of one, period.”
Hunter returns to action against Utah on Saturday, November 16th, back at home in Boulder.
