Key Player ‘On Track’ to Play in Pivotal Big 12 Matchup in Week 12

One of the top players in the country was viewed as questionable coming into the week, but it appears that he’s well on his way to getting back on the field according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

According to Thamel’s report, Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo practiced on Tuesday and is set to practice for the Sun Devils again on Wednesday, meaning he’s “on track to play” against Kansas State this weekend.

Skattebo is the heart and soul of an Arizona State team that has exceeded expectations to this point in the season, putting together a 7-2 campaign through nine games.

The Sun Devils’ star ball carrier had to miss last week’s contest against UCF after suffering an apparent injury during ASU’s 42-21 win over Oklahoma State two weeks ago. Skattebo was named Offensive Big 12 Player of the Week for the fourth time in 2024 following his 274-yard performance against the Pokes.

The importance of getting “Skat” back against the WIldcats this weekend can’t be overstated, as ASU will walk into Manhattan as more than a touchdown underdog.

However, with their top player back in the fold, Arizona State has more than a fighter’s chance in this game. The Sun Devils are currently in a four-way tie for third place in the Big 12 standings, and win over Kansas State would keep them right in the thick of things.

Plus, it would set up for a massive game next week, as ASU is set to host BYU in what could be a ranked-vs-ranked matchup.

Arizona State and Kansas State are scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. CT kick on ESPN on Saturday, November 16.
