The Kansas Jayhawks earned the commitment of four-star wide receiver Jaden Nickens, as first reported by On3 Sports.
And the catch, is that he plans to play football and basketball for the Jayhawks.
Nickens is a four-star prospect, listed by 247Sports as the No. 29 wide receiver in the country and the No 27 player in the state of California. However he is an unranked basketball prospect, per 247, but a three-star small forward, according to ESPN recruiting.
The 6’3”, 190-pound wide receiver is from Chatsworth, California and picked Kansas over Arizona State, Arkansas, Georgia, Texas A&M and several other schools.
On the basketball side, he was being recruited by Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Auburn.
Nickens committed to the Jayhawks without even visiting Lawrence, and told On3, “I’m ready to turn the whole athletic program up! RockChalk”.
It’s clear that KU had a leg up since it was willing to let him play both sports for the Jayhawks.
Nickens becomes the top prospect in Kansas Football’s 2025 recruiting class, per 247 Sports, ahead of three-star cornerback Chris McCorkle, from Florida. Kansas now has 16 commitments for the Class of 2025.
