Last week was arguably the biggest game of the Lane Kiffin era at Ole Miss, as the Rebels played host to No. 3 Georgia for a 2:30 p.m. CT kick at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
Kiffin wasn’t happy about the time slot that the massive matchup fell into either, as he shared his frustration with LSU-Alabama earning the primetime window over Ole Miss-Georgia.
“LSU gets to play at night again, I guess? Shocker,” Kiffin said a couple of weeks ago. “That’s two for two for them. I feel bad for our fans not having one night conference game…so whatever, it’s just really disappointing, but it is what it is.”
Despite not getting the game in the primetime window, Kiffin’s squad showed up and played just fine, handing the Bulldogs their worst loss in years with a 28-10 victory.
However, it appears we haven’t heard the last of Kiffin’s displeasure with not getting any night games for the Rebel fans. Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko fired a parting shot at the Ole Miss coach at the end of his radio show on Wednesday, poking fun as the Aggies are set for another night game in College Station.
“Another night game at Kyle Field,” Elko said. “We appreciate those. Apparently, that’s all we play anymore. … We get them all and Lane wants more, so that’s okay. Him and I, we’ll swap next year or something.”
Kiffin caught wind of the comments on Thursday and responded on X.
It’s too bad these two teams don’t face one another this season, as A&M vs. Ole Miss would be quite the game with how both of these teams have played in 2024.
Ole Miss is on a bye this week, while Texas A&M is getting set to host New Mexico State in a 6:45 p.m. CT kick on Saturday.
