It’s been a tale of two seasons for the Colorado Buffaloes and the Oklahoma Sooners, but the two programs appear to be headed in opposite directions.
In 2023, Colorado wrapped up its final season in the Pac-12 with a 4-8 record and ended the year on a six-game losing streak. At the same time, Oklahoma finished its final season in the Big 12, going 10-3.
Fast-forward to today, and the two programs have pretty much switched roles. Colorado is currently 7-2 and controls its destiny in the Big 12 title race, while Oklahoma is 5-5 and is 1-5 in SEC play.
The role reversal could end up causing one of the top quarterbacks in the 2026 class to rethink his future.
According to a report from the DNVR, Oklahoma’s top commit for the class of 2026, elite four-star quarterback Jaden O’Neal, is scheduled to visit Colorado for the Buffs’ game against Utah this weekend.
According to Rivals, the 6-foot-2, 208-pound, out of Harbor City, California, is the No. 54 overall player in the country and the No. 4 quarterback in the class.
If the report is true, this is a rather interesting storyline to follow as Oklahoma’s visit policy under Brent Venables has been very clear: if a committed player is taking visits to other schools, he’s not committed.
That, plus the fact that O’Neal’s primary recruiter was Seth Littrell, whom OU fired a few weeks ago, makes this a very compelling recruitment to watch down the stretch. O’Neal committed to Oklahoma on June 24, 2024 and has only taken one unofficial — to Oklahoma — since then.
Colorado (7-2) will host O’Neal for the Buffaloes games against Utah (4-5) on Saturday.
