Deion Sanders and Colorado have been one of the biggest stories of the 2024 college football season. While the obvious stars of the season have been Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, an underlying factor that’s really driving Colorado’s success has been it’s improved play on the defensive side of the ball.

The Buffaloes lead the Big 12 in sacks (3.22 per game) and tackles for loss (7.11 per game) and have forced the third-most turnovers of any team in the league with 16.

Much of that can be attributed to their vastly improved play along the defensive line. Defensive line coach Damione Lewis has certainly played a role in that, but it can’t be ignored that Senior Quality Control Analyst Warren Sapp has helped too.

Having an NFL Hall of Famer around for practice everyday is a huge benefit, and it’s not hard to see why he’s helping get the most out of the big guys up front.

There’s a video of Sapp at practice starting to pick up some steam on social media, and it shows just how much fun he’s having on the other side of the game.

Sapp played 13 years in the NFL and was a dominant force for both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Oakland Raiders during his time. Over the course of the 1999-2000 seasons, Sapp collected 29 sacks, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and 93 total tackles, giving him one of the most dominant stretches in NFL history.

Sapp was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a part of the 2013 HOF Class.

Colorado (7-2) is set to host Utah (4-5) this week and can lock itself into a Big 12 Championship appearance if it wins the final three games of the year.
