While it’s no secret that Arkansas has struggled mightily under Sam Pittman, fans are now taking to the highway to let the school know how they feel about the current coaching staff.
As shared by ActionNetworkHQ’s Brett McMurphy, one billboard off the side of Interstate 49 entering Fayetteville is openly advocating for the firing of Sam Pittman.
Pittman, a 63-year-old coach from Oklahoma, has spent the past five years as the head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks. Throughout his time with the program, Pittman is just 28-29 with a 14-26 record in conference play.
The team’s best season under Pittman came in 2021, with the squad finishing at 9-4 overall. Despite the solid year in the overall record, the team finished at .500 in league play at 4-4, capped off by a win over Penn State in the 2022 Outback Bowl.
In 2024, the team has continued to struggle, with very few signs of life. Arkansas even managed to lose to Oklahoma State, a 3-7 team that’s currently winless in Big 12 play. The Razorbacks enter Week 12 with a 5-4 overall record and 3-3 in league play and find themselves with a tough task in facing off against No. 3 Texas.
While a highway sign likely won’t be the driving factor in the firing of Sam Pittman, it certainly doesn’t help the head coach to have fans being willing to spend money on the idea of your ouster.
