Utah’s quarterback room has been brutal this year, with injuries to everyone and anyone not named Isaac Wilson.
After losing players like Cam Rising, Sam Huard, and Brandon Rose to season-ending injuries, it goes without saying that the season outlook appears to be pretty bleak.
In a recent list from 247Sports’ Clint Brewster, the Utes’ quarterback room was included in a story ranking which teams should expect a major change in the transfer portal this offseason.
“The Utes have struggled mightily at quarterback this season, with seventh-year signal-caller Cameron Rising in and out of the lineup,” Brewster said. “Rising has had some tough injuries throughout his career and could also be granted an eighth year of eligibility that he could spend at Utah or elsewhere. Freshman quarterback Isaac Wilson has started a handful of games, while sophomore Brandon Rose started in Week 11. Both quarterbacks do not appear to be the answer for the immediate future for the Utes. You can bet on at least one of the aforementioned names leaving in the portal as changes happen in Salt Lake City this offseason.”
After being picked to finish first in the Big 12 Preseason Media Poll during the summer, the Utes entered the 2024 season on a high note. The team won each of its games in the non-conference schedule and the first game of Big 12 play before dropping six straight games.
While Isaac Wilson has had some special moments in his true freshman campaign, the Utes may be in for a busy offseason at the quarterback position.
