Paul Finebaum on Heisman Race: ‘I Think It’s Over’

NCAA Football: Utah at Colorado

Following another impressive showing for Colorado defensive back Travis Hunter, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum declared his pick for the Heisman.

On a Sunday morning episode of SportsCenter, Finebaum declared that he is ‘Paul-in’ on Travis Hunter as the clear-cut Heisman Trophy winner.

“I’m very Paul-in on that,” Finebaum. “I think it is over. I know there are a couple of weeks left, but he, in many ways, won the Heisman before the season because we knew how talented he was. It was just a matter of clearing the rest of the field out. But yesterday, I believe the Heisman pose was properly demonstrated, and he’s got a few more games left. I don’t think he can do any damage because he is the best player in college football.”

Hunter was a major factor in the matchup vs. Utah, recording an interception and a rushing touchdown in the game. Colorado advanced to 8-2 with the win, improving their conference record to 6-1, tied for the league lead with BYU.

“He let us down a little bit today,” head coach Deion Sanders joked about Hunter’s Week 12 performance. “They took a shot at him … but he kept his composure and made a big play. Travis is the epitome of a football player. He loves the game, he practices hard, he’s a straight-A student, goes right home after. He ain’t smoking; he ain’t getting high. He did nothing stupid like that or getting drunk. He’s a great human being, and I love him. He’s the epitome of what this organization is.”

Colorado returns to action in a major contest against the surging Kansas Jayhawks in Week 13. The game will be played at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, November 23rd, at Arrowhead Stadium.
