Three Big 12 Basketball Teams Among Nation’s Top 5 in Three-Point Percentage

NCAA Basketball: Houston at Texas

While college basketball teams are still in the early stages of the 2024-25 season, three teams from the Big 12 Conference have been blistering the outside shot.

Through the first handful of games this year, Houston, Texas Tech, and Cincinnati rank inside the nation’s top five in three-point percentage.

Kelvin Sampson’s Houston Cougars currently lead the nation in that statistic, connecting on 48.2% of shots from three. Texas Tech ranks third with 45.1,% and Cincinnati rounds out the top five in fifth with 43.3%.

In addition to the top three, two other Big 12 programs check in on the list, with Utah connecting on 41.8%, which is good for eighth in the country, and Colorado with 40.2 in 12th place.

While Houston, Texas Tech, and Cincinnati were all expected to be pretty good this year (All picked Top 7 in Preseason Big 12 Poll), Colorado and Utah were picked to finish 15th and 16th. The duo have quietly impressed in their first four games and appear to be better than initially expected.

Through the first two weeks of the season, the Big 12 Conference has six teams inside the AP Top 25 and five more receiving votes.
