Look: Utah Rocking Best Helmets of Season vs. Iowa State

NCAA Football: Utah at Oklahoma State

While things haven’t looked right for Utah this fall on the football field, in Week 13, the team is sporting a new look in hopes of some revamped play.

According to a report from ActionNetworkHQ’s Brett McMurphy, the Utah Utes are sporting alternate hand-painted helmets vs. Iowa State.

The helmet was created by Armando Villarreal of AVStudios, an airbrush artist for Schutt Sports, in an effort to honor the Polynesian culture within Utah’s football program.

Utah enters the game at 4-6 overall with an abysmal 1-6 record in conference play. The matchup vs. No. 22 Iowa State is one of the biggest games of the Week 13 slate, however, as the Cyclones are one of four remaining teams with a decent chance of reaching Arlington for the Big 12 Championship.

Utah plays spoiler in the matchup as well as continues the hunt for bowl eligibility. Should te team knock off Iowa State and UCF in the final two weeks of the season, Kyle Whittingham’s group would reach a bowl game in spite of some extreme adversity.

That adversity largely stems from issues at the quarterback position. The team has endured season-ending injuries to three different signal callers, including veteran Cam Rising, transfer Sam Huard, and sophomore Brandon Rose.

The Week 13 matchup between Utah and No. 22 Iowa State kicks off on Saturday, November 23rd, at 6:30 p.m. CT in Salt Lake City.
