On Friday, ahead of Kansas State’s massive game vs. No. 18 Iowa State, one member of the Wildcats decided to hit the transfer portal.
That player is sophomore wideout Jayce Brown, who currently checks in as the team’s leading receiver this fall.
Brown, a 6-foot receiver from Fort Walton Beach, Florida, leads the team this fall with 39 grabs for 657 yards and three touchdowns. The Florida native added to an impressive sophomore season where he posted 27 catches for 437 yards and three scores.
Brown was an underrated pickup by Chris Klieman and his coaching staff, as the Wildcats were Brown’s lone Power Five offer when coming out of high school. Coming out Choctawhatchee High School in the Class of 2025, Brown was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 1396th-ranked player. He also checked in as the 195th-ranked player at his position and the 185th-ranked player in the state of Florida.
With his decision to transfer ahead of the season finale vs. Iowa State, Brown became the first member of the Wildcats to hit the transfer portal this season.
Kansas State returns to action on Saturday, November 30th, on the road vs. Iowa State at 6:30 p.m. CT.
