Texas Tech football is coming off an impressive 8-4 season, but apparently that’s not enough to keep one of their potential stars on the roster for 2025 and beyond.
As first reported by On3 Sports, former five-star recruit and true freshman Micah Hudson is planning to enter the transfer portal. Hudson caught 8 passes for 123 yards this season. According to 247Sports, Hudson was a Top 5 wide receiver in the Class of 2023. The 247Sports composite also had him as the No. 16 player in the country and No. 4 player in Texas.
All of Hudson’s eight catches came in the first two months of the season. He hasn’t had a catch since the Baylor game on October 19th, when he had two grabs for 38 yards.
Hudson enrolled early at Texas Tech and came in with huge promise as the top recruit in the Class of 2024. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Hudson was one of the most productive players in the country during his high school career as he snagged 132 catches for 2,515 yards and 29 receiving touchdowns in three seasons at Lake Belton. He also was a productive contributor in the ground game rushing 107 times for 1,085 yards and 10 scores.
Texas Tech now awaits its bowl game destination after going 8-4, including 6-3 in Big 12 play. The six league wins was the most for the Red Raiders since Mike Leach went 7-1 during the 2008 season.
